Pool News

  • Now that the summer is coming to an end we would like to thank our Pool Chairperson Robert Moment and his Pool Committee – Rosemary Beirne, Peter Ennis, Jill Feldman, Patty Gamba, Liz Malave and Suzanne Savard, who came forward and took care of pool operations.  Their direction and diligence resulted in a clean, safe pool for our members and their children.  We thank our lifeguards Jimmy Socha, Lynette Innabi, James McDonald, Dina Al-Rabadi, Stefanie Quinde and Amanda McGovern for doing a fine job all summer long.  But the pool hasn’t closed just yet – in fact we are extending the pool season an extra week until September 12th.  Enjoy!

  • Nineteen kids and their parents attended our Kids’ Pool Party in August.  Patty Gamba once again took the reins, with the help of guards Jimmy and Stefanie, who organized the games, Madison Moment, who helped with setting up, and Claire Miko&Daphne Romeo who helped fill up more than 100 water balloons!  Thank you all!

  • The pool officially opened on Saturday May 29th for the summer season.  Nora Beirne managed to beat everyone else and now holds the “first in the pool every year” title!  She pronounced that it was indeed warm and “swimmable".   Nora was followed later in the day by several families with small children.  On Sunday (the day of the picnic) I counted more than fifty people in and around the pool splashing, laughing and generally enjoying themselves on what was a rather warm day.  Monday was more of the same with fewer people than the day before but the pool was bustling none the less. The new lifeguards, James McDonald, Amanda McGovern and Dina Al-Rabadi all performed their duties admirably.

  • This summer's Kids’ Pool Party was hosted by Pool Chairwoman, Maura Laverty.  Sixteen or so children enjoyed water races, a balloon toss, diving for pennies and the like, all fueled by pizza and cupcakes.
