Tennis Rules

  1. Courts are open from 9 AM until dusk, weather permitting.
  2. You must sign in to reserve a court.  Fill in your players’ names and time of play.
  3. Playing time is limited to ONE HOUR when other players are waiting for court time.  Waiting players have the right to “bump” at the end of the hour.
  4. All four players (in a doubles game) must be on the premises, ready for play, before signing up.
  5. If your group has already played for an hour and you are signed up for a second session, please be courteous and allow “fresh” players who have just arrived at the club to get on the court ahead of you.
  6. Proper tennis attire only:  No bathing suits or cut-off shorts.  Shirts are a MUST! Proper shoes, specially made for tennis, must be worn to protect our courts.
  7. Brush courts after you are finished playing.  Lines can be swept by newer players before they begin.
  8. If it begins to rain while you are playing, leave the court immediately, to prevent both injuries and court damage.
  9. Children (15 years and under) must defer to adults during “prime time” – after 5 PM on weeknights and before noon on Saturdays and Sundays.  Adults can “bump” them off the court at those times if there are no other courts available.  If an adult is on the court with one or more children they cannot be bumped.
  10. Children (15 years and under) are not eligible to play in adult tournaments, unless granted special permission by the Tennis Committee.
  11. General court etiquette ALWAYS applies:
    • No foul or abusive language, yelling or extreme displays of anger
    • Wait until a point is played before entering the court or retrieving a ball
    • Be courteous and respectful of other players
