South American and Caribbean Cuisine Night
Max Sanchez cooked up a fabulous idea for a new event this month: South American and Caribbean Night was a great success. The party was moved upstairs to the ballroom when we realized what a great turnout was expected! Around eighty attendees came and enjoyed home-cooked fare contributed by Max and some new members: Elizabeth Malave, Susan Proano (with a mouth-watering Tres Leches Cake) as well as Susan’s husband Alex, who prepared a delicious Shrimp Ceviche with his mom’s help. There was yucca, pork, chicken, and two kinds of flan! It was certainly a family affair in all respects. Siso Negron (Elizabeth’s husband) was seen doing KP duty along with Dorota and Patty Schumann. Patty and Steve Savard had assisted Max in getting the room prepared with finishing touches by Elizabeth and Dorota. The result: a comfortable setting with a Latin flavor. Couches, tables, lights and candelabras all blended together for a mellow mood. Steve also set up our sound system which played a cache of catchy tunes until long after midnight. Adults were charged a very reasonable rate and children were welcomed for free. Madison Moment did a great job of keeping the youngsters occupied and content in the Members’ Lounge. It was a wonderful evening, thanks to the time and group effort put forth by our hosts. Max expresses his deepest thanks to all of his assistants for “going the extra mile”. He also thanks all the people that attended. “They were great, fully enthusiastic with open hearts and minds. I hope we can learn from the experience and do something similar again. Thank you again for the opportunity.” Of course we all thank Max for his enthusiasm!
