MITL - 2009 Season Recap

Our Women’s MITL Team has completed its 2009 season with a “fair but middling” 14 win, 18 loss record.  Eight matches were played each Tuesday through the months of May and June – at least we tried to play each Tuesday!  It has been a difficult season, to say the least.  Our captain and dear friend Daphne Romeo spent uncountable hours setting up four doubles teams each week – once, twice, sometimes three times for a match if the weather was being particularly uncooperative.  Who can play Tuesday?  Who’s available Thursday?  Can you play Wednesday of next week if it doesn’t rain again?  Numerous emails and phone calls to members and opposing captains needed to be made.    Daphne tried to sleep, only to be woken up in the middle of the night by thunder and lightening or the obnoxious pitter patter of raindrops.  Another rain out!  But she hung in there and got the job done.  We roundly applaud Daphne for her tenacity, spunk and dedication to the club!
